What We Do
Kendrum Music Academy also Known as Kendrum Afro-Caribbean Music Academy provides training in general musicianship to all ages and specialized training in a variety of musical instruments. These include the African-Caribbean Percussion instruments; The steel pans, djembe (hand drum) guitar, piano, keyboards, clarinet, flute and saxophone. We also provide live entertainment for various functions, as soloists, bands, small orchestras or customized ensembles to fit your specific needs.
Supporting Community
We are extremely proud of our youth steel orchestra Kendrum Youth Steel Orchestra (KYSO) (Facebook page) it has done numerous successful performances in our community and further afield. Since its formation in 2007 KYSO has performed at Mississauga Multicultural Festival; “Carassauga“, Brampton Multicultural Festival “Carabram” and several other community events in and around the GTA.
In 2010 at the invitation Guyana folk Festival Committee, KYSO travelled to New York and performed at the Guyana Folk Festival USA Awards Ceremony, Library hangout and Family Fun day. The next year as a direct result of KYSO’s impressive performance in NY, the band was invited to participate in the Boston Carnival in Boston Massachusetts .
